firepower

What's this? A big time corp. being taken into account over an actor shining light on an issue? This is the story from vogue.com.uk

BURBERRY QUESTIONED
BURBERRY executives will find themselves up in front of a UK parliamentary committee later this month to defend its proposed closure of a factory in Treorchy, South Wales, that will affect 311 jobs. While one of the fashion house's current models, actor Ioan Gruffudd, spoke out against the closure in November, the Welsh Affairs Committee has now committed to question Burberry as part of its investigation into the impact of globalisation on employment in the region. "We thought that it was opportune to invite Burberry to provide evidence and background about why they intend to close the factory," Hywel Francis, chairman of the committee, told WWD. While Burberry has stressed that no final decision has been made regarding the fate of the factory, the Welsh Affairs Committee has no power to prevent its closure. (January 3 2007, AM) Dolly Jones

This is fantastic, instead of giving a shit whether which starlet isn't wearing panties (for shame! Learn that flashing your shit across America's all too eager eyes is not the way to make a stunning comeback, or to be immortalized) our famous should be using their star power for good not evil. Case in point Ioan Gruffudd, a Welsh actor who is employed by the company he spoke out against. How I wish this could have happened for our country and it's factories. No one seems to care that we have our products made in other countries. It would be lovely for this country to keep it's domestic products be domestically produced. Think of all those jobs...
